Vodacom, iPad’s and Blackberry’s — what is going on here

I hate it when I once again need to tick the ‘Rant Category’ – but what is a man to do when service delivery is less than it should be?

So, after much deliberation Apple managed to corrupt my soul and I am now the owner of an iPad! Overall a very impressive device though it is missing some basic features such as SMS (cough).

All that aside I’m now once again in the unenviable position of having to deal with Vodacom on a strange issue. I added an additional DATA SIM to my current contract for the iPad – as soon as this SIM went active my BIS service on my main contract stopped working. After long chats with Vodacom support I’ve been told my Blackberry service has been suspended and that they could not unsuspended it – it needs to be investigated????
I think a business rule went wonky here – from what I understand Apple were not keen for a subscriber to be able to have a BIS service available on an iPhone contract from Vodacom. Issue here is that I don’t have an ‘iPhone’ contract per se – I have a contract that has multiple SIMs and both the iPhone and Blackberry services enabled. Something fell through the cracks here…

/me impatiently awaits their investigation to resolve the bloody issue so that I can use my Blackberry decently again.

Lets hope that once resolved this does not become a monthly issue

Sadly despite all promises to the contrary not only has Vodacom’s advanced support not contacted me, but their call centre (when I phoned them) indicated that it’s resolved … when in fact I’m still Blackberryless…..

    Sad state of affairs.
